An amazing book by a humble priest whom God called to share about the joy, strength, and wonder experienced by those who are willing to receive God's Holy Spirit. This book transformed my life in 1977 when I was struggling with a troubled marriage and new baby. I'd believed in Jesus since childhood, but had no power to over my sins until "Nine O'Clock in the Morning" inspired me to receive the Holy Spirit. When a local Spirit-filled pastor prayed for me to receive the Spirit, God gave me overflowing joy, overcoming power, and, as God taught me how to truly love my husband, an over-the-top marriage! As Jesus' love flowed through our household, we became one of the closest couples I've ever known. Plus, our "baby" is now a strong man of God. I'd recommend this book to anyone seeking to go beyond dry, ritualistic religion. The Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus in Acts 1:7-8 grants us an awesome and fulfilling relationship with the one true God. The words of this humble priest will inspire a hunger for that relationship.Product details

Nine O'Clock in Morning edition by Dennis Bennett Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I loved this book. In fact, I just read it for a second time this week. I laughed, I cried (a lot) and was inspired. The first time I read it, , I was looking for a way to "get the baptism of The Holy Spirit", like a how-to book. Well, I have to tell you, it doesn't work that way, but this book explains how the Baptism is relevant for today and why you REALLY WANT TO HAVE IT if you a new Christian who has just accepted Christ, or someone who has been a Believer for a while.
The first time I read it, I had not received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The second time I read the book, I HAD received the Baptism (with tongues) and read it with a different perspective. As described from others' experiences in the book, my biggest obstacle to receiving, was MYSELF. I finally had someone who already had this gift lay hands on me and pray (like in the scriptures) and then, I had to step out in faith and try speaking (that's our part). God gives us this gift if we ask and it's AWESOME.
I truly enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. It tells the uplifting story of Father Dennis Bennett, an Episcopal Minister, who witnessed the speaking in tongue, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and then received the blessing himself. He then goes on to relate how his ministry and personal life were blessed by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. He explains the gift of tongues, and how one is blessed to pray in a tongue language. He also describes from personal experience, other blessings of the Holy Spirit, such as healing, prophesy, interpretation of tongues, and the gift of knowledge.
Despite the many healings Rev. Bennett witnessed, he lost his dear wife to cancer. She was not miraculously healed, and he dedicates a very important chapter on this issue of "unanswered" prayer for healing. I perhaps enjoyed this chapter the most, for far too many books on the Holy Spirit deal with overwhelming successes and living happily ever after once the Holy Spirit arrives. Realistically, this is not always the case. Tribulations still come, and some result in death. Yet, we are still called to overcome the adversary and tribulations that afflict us. I appreciated how Rev. Bennett explained and interpreted his wife's death in light of his understanding and scripture.
This is not a self-help book on how to get the Holy Spirit baptism. It is rather the wonderful story of a man and his world transformed by the working of the Holy Spirit. I believe it will bless you and give you hope. It will likely cause you to seek the baptism as well.

This book was a true life changer for me, long a closet charismatic (Yes, I know that I sound like an oxymoron). The story is engrossing and both a profound and a fast read. Fr. Bennett became one of my religious heroes with this absorbing account of his experience, which really rings true, of the Holy Spirit. I learned to embrace my experience of the Holy Spirit and the power it gave me to serve God and others, rather than just wondering about it or intellectualizing it. A MODERN CLASSIC!
"The frozen chosen" is a joking reference to the staid old denominations that make up what many refer to as "mainstream churches". The movement that Dennis Bennet helped to start was God's wake-up call to the old line churches to drink deeply of the New Wine of His Spirit. Nine O'Clock in the Morning is a record of those long ago, amazing beginnings.
The Charismatic Renewal as it came to be called was, in no small way, the result of Rev. Dennis Bennet's faithfulness, courage, and humility.
This homey, gentle account recounts the early moments of God's new presence in His church through His Spirit. That the movement is still alive after nearly 60 years is testimony to God's blessing, provision and protection.
